Kathleen Staker was born in the Philippines and moved to Southern California when she was 13 years old. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with minors in Dance and Philosophy from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1999. She then began working full-time at a local Internet Service Provider (lSP) called The Grid.net. The Grid was one of the many ISPs bought out by OneMain.com and eventually by EarthLink.net. Ms. Staker quickly moved up the ranks within the EarthLink organization, but after four years in the ISP business, she decided that she wanted to do something else. In 2002, she left her position as Dedicated Access Customer Service Manager of EarthLink's offices in San Jose and Roseville, and began applying to law schools. She received her Juris Doctor with distinction from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in December 2006.

As a law student, Ms. Staker received the Witkin Award for achieving the highest grade in her Wills and Trusts class, and was appointed to the Traynor Honor Society. She also worked as a research assistant for Professor Gregory S. Weber and for Sacramento law firms specializing in insurance defense as well as plaintiff personal injury. Ms. Staker joined the Lenahan firm as a paralegal in their civil litigation department in 2005. She was admitted to practice law in June 2007, and continues to work in the civil litigation department as an associate attorney.

Ms. Staker's hobbies include dance, music, snow skiing, and sports.
