Charleton S. Pearse
Partner | Sacramento Office
Like many other members of the firm, Mr. Pearse started as a law clerk while attending law school at UC Davis Law School, King Hall. He has been a partner with the firm for 27 of his 31 years of practice.
Though born in Virginia, he was raised in New York where he lived until moving to California in 1976. He started college relatively late, at 22, and worked his way through Pasadena City College and UCLA, graduating with honors from both institutions. Family and employment were a part of his life throughout his entire post-secondary education.
He graduated from law school in 1985 and was admitted to the California Bar in early December of the same year. Within one week, he was taking depositions and has been trying cases since his first year of practice.
Civil litigation is the exclusive area of his law practice, but the nature of his clients’ cases have been quite varied. Tort, subrogation, governmental liability defense, business litigation, bank fraud, personal injury, elder abuse, and employment harassment and discrimination suits comprise the lion’s share of his representation. His experience has included representing governmental entities, third party administrators, plaintiffs, defendants and intervenors. His clients have included York Risk Services Group, YCPARMIA, and Gallagher Bassett, The Cities of Davis, Winters, and Yuba City, and the counties of Sacramento, Yolo and Nevada.
He considers it his honor to represent his clients through all phases of civil litigation, from the inception of a case through trial, and before our Appellate Courts.
He has five children, Michael, Amy, Reid, Christian, and Aidan, 13. He is married to Julie Pearse and resides in the Sacramento area.
